James's Therapy Specialties

  • Crisis
  • Mentoring
  • Guidance
On a personal level, I’m deeply passionate about helping people. My journey began in high school, where I worked with the school therapist to co-facilitate after-school support groups for middle schoolers dealing with anger management and depression. I also spent four years as a student aide, assisting developmentally disabled students. These early experiences were pivotal in guiding me toward the field of psychology.

I have over 25 years of experience in social services. My career started in mental health, working with adults and children in both residential and outreach settings. I then moved to Children’s Mobile Response, where I supported families in crisis, before transitioning to the Division of Child Protection and Permanency. For the past three years, I’ve also been working as a life coach and youth mentor. I have extensive knowledge of various Social Service Programs and have supported many families and clients through supportive counseling, mental health education and awareness, assessing family/individual needs and safety, crisis de-escalation, mentoring, guidance, overcoming obstacles, identifying goals, and discovering their true potential.
